The Society was founded in 1960 as a result of a conversation between Mrs Ursula Urquhart of Rochester and Cobham Park and Miss Dorothy Lammin of Littlestone. Mrs Urquhart was unhappy about not being eligible to play in the London Lady Captains’ meetings as her club was outside their boundary and she thought it would be good to have a similar society in Kent. Past and current captains of Kent clubs were contacted and six ladies across the county were co-opted onto the committee. Wanda Morgan was invited to be President, Miss Norah Holland of Littlestone and Folkestone became Captain, Mrs Urquhart became Hon Secretary and Miss Lammin became Hon Treasurer. The Society have an AGM and luncheon in early March each year and have a Spring and Autumn Meeting as well as a Cobnuts meeting for members of 65 and over.
Membership of the Society is open to all past and present Captains of Kent Golf Clubs – for further details please contact Ann Lake (email: philannlake@talktalk.net).

2nd Harry Wanless and Judie Smith 3rd Robin Fullager and Christine Steed
This is our annual match, format American Greensomes Stableford with ladies and men pairing up and either playing as a pair in the ladies team or the mens team. Result was the mens team won. It was a lovely sunny afternoon and the men looked after the ladies extremely well. At the end of a very enjoyable day and at the following dinner to commemorate our 50th Anniversary, the mens Captain, Harry Sargent presented Ann Lake with an inscribed gavel.
50TH ANNIVERSARY GOLF DAY
Every golf club in Kent was invited to send a representative who is a member of the Society to take part in a 4BBB competition to celebrate our 50th Anniversary. Pairs were randomly drawn and around 70 ladies took part. Although the weather was overcast and rather chilly, rain held off and everyone very much enjoyed the golf as well as the luncheon in the clubhouse afterwards.

SLCKGC v KCLGA JUNIOR GIRLS
A team of 12 lady members of the Society played in
the annual match against a team of Kent Junior girls at Knole Park Golf Club on the 24th October.. It was a close fought battle with the Girls just winning by 3 1/2 - 2 1/2. 3 matches going to the 18th. The match is in its 14th year and we are sorry to report that the result is 11 wins to the Juniors and only 3 to the SLCKGC. Perhaps next year?? We thank Knole Park for allowing us courtesy of the course.
