Kent Girls help Kent Schools tie match with Surrey Schools

Kent Schools took on Surrey Schools at Addington Palace on 6th October 2015 with some very heavy downpours during the day. Nicola Smith and Nicola Amos once again came to Kent Schools rescue. Last year at Royal St Georges they won their foursomes and singles to help Kent narrowly beat Surrey Schools. This year they lost their foursomes and Kent trailed 3-2. After the boys singles Kent trailed 7-5. Nicole Amos won her match comfortably 9&7 and Nicola Smith won a hard fought match 2&1 where both girls were under par for most of the match to level the match 7-7. Richard Young the Kent organiser said it was the first time that he could recall that the match had been tied in 35 years!

England v Wales at Sherwood Forest on Monday 24 August 2015
Nicola Smith  was one of a quartet of girls that represented England Schools against Wales.

England were 5-1 down after the morning foursomes and looking at a heavy defeat. The boys pulled the score back to 8-6 in favour of Wales so the outcome depended on the four girl games. The gap closed further when double schools champion Amelia Williamson beat Ffon Evans 2&1.  Nicola came back from two down with four to play to gain a half with Lea-Anne Bramwell  which still left England trailing, but not for long. Adrian Mylrea tied the contest with a 2&1 win over Erin Toft so it was Hannah Screen in the final game who tipped the balance with a 1-hole win over Danielle Jones.

Final score England  9.5 Wales 8.5.
