Junior County Week 2018 Results and Reports

Reports, results and photos of JUNIOR COUNTY WEEK at Bush Hill Park, Middlesex from Monday 13 – 15 August.

DAY 3 – WEDNESDAY 15 AUGUST – KENT v SURREY– Results >>

It was always going to be a tough match today against Surrey and our girls, led out again by Junior Captain Darcie Smith, fought their hardest and should be very proud of themselves.

The end result was a 7-0 loss but it was pleasing to see 2 of our rookies (Olivia and Ellena) taking their opponents to the 17th and Millie went all the way to the 18th.

Ellie was certainly up against it with her opponent scoring a hole in one on the 7th hole.

We ended up being in 4th position. Very similar to what happened at our 1st Team County Week, we missed out on third position on count back from Hampshire by 1/2 point.

Surrey were the winners and Sussex were runners up.

It was agreed by all that we had had a wonderful time and that there was a great team spirit. The experience gained by our mostly young team has been invaluable and this all bodes well for the future.

DAY 2 – TUESDAY 14 AUGUST – KENT v MIDDLESEX – Results >>

Our girls were raring to go this morning and from the beginning were in charge of this match against Middlesex.

In the end we had a great win 4 1/2 – 2 1/2 with our successful girls being Maria (unbeaten), Millie and rookies Ellie and Megan with Darcie out in front halving her match. We were delighted with the result leaving it with everything to play for on the last day in our match against Surrey.

DAY 1 – MONDAY 13 AUGUST – KENT v SUSSEX – Results >>

The Kent Junior girls with four rookies in the squad (Ellie Burdis, Olivia Heard, Ellena Slater and Megan Baldwin) had a tough start to County Week against Sussex in the morning but all fought well getting to know the course better. The weather was mixed but no heavy rain as predicted. Maria Babadi was our only winner with Darcie Smith battling hard to halve her match.

Feeling confident the girls all had very close matches in the afternoon against Hampshire and did very well to come out winners 4 1/2 – 2 1/2. Three of our four rookies in the squad had good results with Ellie and Ellena having convincing wins and Olivia battling hard to halve her match. Nicole Amos and Maria Babadi were our other winners.
