The first official day of Summer saw the 2017 Junior Championship in bright sunshine at the beautiful Wildernesse Golf Club. 36 holes for the players with handicaps 16 and under.
Despite the glorious weather, scoring in the morning round appeared to be difficult, so it was all to play for in the afternoon round. And so it proved to be. Nicole Stewart, Chart Hills, came in level par, but soon after Darcie Smith, also Chart Hills, came in one under par. Most girls improving on their morning score
Alongside the 36 hole competition there was an 18 hole handicap competition for the 17 and over handicaps. Magnificent Martha Mumby, Princes, playing in her first “big” competition returned a superb nett 63 winning by 10 shots.
